The Partnership
Starship Children’s Hospital provides leading healthcare to nearly 120,000 children each year from around New Zealand and the Pacific Islands and well developed and funded research is vital to providing better care pathways and treatments for seriously ill children.
Finding money for research is difficult and the Athlae Lyon Starship Research Trust will provide funds for important research that might not otherwise proceed. It will play a vital role in assisting researchers to develop effective treatments and will help retain and attract key medical staff.
The Trust will work closely with the Starship Foundation and the intention is that the capital funds available will be progressively increased from donations, bequests or loans to become a significant source of funding for research related to children’s health and possible travelling scholarships for specific research purposes.
